On the surface the idea of bringing more visitors to your site and increasing your position on search engines seems like it might be a simple thing to achieve. Of course there are a bounty of ads and email campaigns that promise top positioning. Be careful what you invest in because what you absolutely must invest in is what goes on your site.

Invest in your content! Nothing brings people back more than what you have to say. No one picks up a novel that is one page long… that book never leaves the shelf. What you have to say must be relevant and something people are looking for.

Key words helps a lot and there is a science to that in which some services perpetuate under the guise of higher ranking alone.

Your web design/developer must start your presence from the first line of code added to the site. With those key words there is a system of tiers in the contextual content and tags with the visual elements that have to be there and be relevant with the words.

Tell one story on your site and while selling widgets, don’t put an ad for your motorcycle on the site. Along with that, if this is a business site, make sure your business strategy is clearly defined including your mission.

One true to life story: A client worked very hard making his restaurant a theme that played to a fantasy; it was really cool looking and had all kinds of doo-dads on it. The product was the best burger in the world, and the burgers were fantastic, but the focus on the marketing was the doo-dads in the restaurant. What is the real selling point? The doo-dads or great burners? Food people don’t care about doo-dads and they won’t come back to a bad burger – but do they even know the burger is there?

You must be prepared to invest in your site or you must have someone out there promoting you and developing links actively. That really is the purpose of this site. The clients I have listed on here as of this posting are people who do not have time to promote on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and where ever else they are listing at.

My services tend include some P.R. and marketing. Since I created their brands I am also responsible for some of the cross branding and helping to keep the business strategy within the scope of the mission. You will see me posting their specials on my Twitter feeds so be sure and check it out.
